Slovenia, a truly paradise for passionate trekkers, mountaineers is presented in this special program, which leads us from the green vineyards of Slovenian Styria, to old Pohorje forest, to magnificent family of Kamnik/Savinja’s Alps and to the most scenic parts of Julian alps – the region of the Triglav & the kingdom of Goldhorn
8 DAYS, 7 nights
Magnificent trekking sensation starting from the vineyards valley under the Pohorje Mountain, continue to the pearl of Kamnik Alps – Logarska Valley and ending on the top of Slovenia – the mount Triglav in spectacular Julian Alps.
Difficulty: ***/**** (moderate walking, some secured mountaineering path in Kamnik Alps and some easy rock scrambling on secured mountain path in Logarska valley as well as Triglav ascend. The Triglav top is 2.864m high.
Program:
1. day: ARRIVAL TO MARIBOR
The second largest town in Slovenia, positioned between Pohorje mountain, the river Drava and the sunny vineyards and wine roads of Styria region. Accommodation and a short sightseeing tour of the old town Maribor. You can admire the oldest wine plant in the world. Diner served at the local restaurant, overnight.
2. day: WALKING TOUR OF POHORJE (FROM MARIBOR TO PESEK HUT)
In the early morning start of the tour and nice walk towards Areh ski winter resort, continue on Slovenian mountain traverse route nr.1 to the waterfall »Šumik« (short stop), and further to the Pesek hut beneath the Rogla ski resort. Diner served in the hut and overnight at the hut.
3. day: SHORT WALK TO RIBNISKA HUT ON POHORJE MASIV AND TRANSFER TO THE LOGARSKA VALLEY (KAMNIK ALPS)
Early breakfast and continuing of the trekking. We will visit the famous highland moor of Pohorje.. The largest moor on Pohorje is the Lovrenška moor (or Lovrenška lakes) and lies on the ridge of Planika at the source of the Pohorje streams Radoljna, Mislinja and Velka. The moor is made up of larger and smaller lakes; altogether there are 20 lakes. We will continue and will finish our walk at a Ribniska hut. Descend by coach to Ribnica and river Drava Valley, continuing the drive to the valley of river Savinja and our next goal: Kamnik-Savinja’s Alps and Logarska Valley. It is one of the most beautiful alpine valleys in Slovenia. After hotel accommodation follows some multimedia presentation of Logarska valley. Diner served in the hotel restaurant. Overnight.
4. day: ASCEND TO OJSTRICA MOUNTAIN & THE VIEW OVER THE SLOVENIAN CENTRAL PART/FOR LESS EXPERIENCED TREKKERS WE SUGGEST CLIMB TO RADUHA MONTAIN WITH ASTONISHING VIEW OVER THE KAMNIŠKE ALPE GROUP
Early wake up and depending on group abilities and weather conditions we suggest the steep walk to Klemenča Jama hut, and from there to Škarje and further to the most spectacular mountain of Ojstrica. Toping at 2.350m above the Logarska Valley on one side and above the Korošica mountain plateau on the other side, you will have one of the most beautiful views over Slovenia! Descend to Logarska valley. For less experienced mountaineers and easy trekkers we suggest the climb to the panoramic mountain of Raduha. Velika Raduha (2.062m) is the highest peak of Raduha mountain ridge. Because of its position away from other higher peaks, offers us a great view to Kamniško-Savinja’s Alps, the most beautiful is Ojstrica. View is also nice to eastern Slovenia. Top is overgrown with grass, spacious and on the other side is precipitous. It has an inscription book. Diner will be served in a mountain hut. Overnight.
5. day: ASCENDING THE KAMNIK ALPS TOWARDS KAMNIK SADDLE - AFTERNOON TRAVEL TO BLED AND BOHINJ
Early breakfast. We will walk up to the famous waterfall Rinka. Spectacular views at the water falling from top of Okrešelj. We ascend to the Okrešelj hut, some short brake, continuing to the Kamnik saddle. From here you can admire the whole Ljubljana basin. Descend towards south side of Kamnik Alps coming to Kamniška Bistrica. From here, the coach will bring us to Gorenjska region and to the Julian Alps. Just an hour of drive, we are in Bled – well known touristic place of Slovenia. Accommodation at hotel in Bled. Diner will be served in hotel restaurant, overnight.
6. day: ASCENT TO TRIGLAV – REST ON PLANIKA HUT
Early in the morning we will be transferred to the mountain plateau of Pokljuka, the famous high-plateau where the biathlon championships are held. From here starts the route to the Slovenian highest mountain Triglav. Ascend towards Planika hut. Some rest and depending on weather we suggest a climb over Mali Triglav and over the crest to the top of the mountain. At 2.864 m you will get the most beautiful view in Slovenia, reaching far into Austrian and Italian Alps, the whole county beneath you! You can feel the big north wall of Triglav, the most known climbing wall in Slovenia, which descend to over 1800 meters lover Vrata valley. We will descend and have our diner and overnight at Planika hut.
7. day: DESCENT TO KRMA VALLEY – VISIT TO BOHINJ
Early in the morning we will start to descent to Krma valley, one of the tree valleys embracing the Triglav from east and north side. Transfer from Mojstrana village to Bled and to Bohinj and hotel accommodation. Our farewell diner!
(for a mountaineers used to walk longer daily trips, we suggest a descent to Bohinj lake over the Valley of seven Triglav Lakes and further over Komarča, longer version, steeper descend)
8. day: DEPARTURE FROM SLOVENIA
Breakfast in the hotel at Bohinj and departure /optional transfer to the airport Ljubljana.

ESSENTIAL EQUIPMENT
The weather can change quickly in the Kamnisko- Savinjske and in Julian Alps and even in summer it is possible to get snow and therefore the following equipment is required on all of our trekking activities:
Head: Warm hat, Protection against sun, Eyewear, Sunglasses
Torso: Thermal base layer shirts (2 shortsleeve,1 longsleeve)
T Shirts and/or casual shirts
Fleece jacket or jumper
Light weight and waterproof clothing – jacket and over trousers (GoreTex – expect temperatures between –5C and +30C)
Hands: Lightweight thermal gloves, Warmer over gloves or mittens
Legs: Trekking trousers, Lightweight waterproof over trousers, Underwear Shorts
Feet: Walking boots suitable for mountaineering/trekking – Vibram soles or similar, Training shoes for travelling, Socks, Technical, Walking Socks (2 or 3 pairs), Spare, laces
Trek Bag Contents: Travel clothes, Small padlock (for trek bag), Rucksack 35 to 50 litres, Torch
& Batteries, Basic First Aid Kit: Compress, plasters, Ibuprofen, Paracetamol, Sun protection (including total bloc for lips, nose), Water bottles (1, 5 litre), Wash bag and toiletries, Antibacterial hand wash,
Cotton towel, Trekking poles, Insect Repellent, Camera & batteries, Swiss army knife
